ZOLKC team up with BaAM Productions in North America

BaAM Productions of Toronto, Canada and Zolkc based in Waterford, Ireland have teamed up to introduce a new brand in North America's interactive experience industry.

BaAM powered by Zolkc ™ (BpbZ™) brings together BaAM's content development, interpretation and storytelling expertise with Zolkc's advanced technology, programming skill and success in creating amazing visitor experiences in Ireland, England and Scotland.

BpbZ's vGuide premium experience and Smartphone Apps will offer visitors at a wide range of tourism, cultural and sports attractions the perfect handheld interpretive solution - offering enhanced layers of content and storytelling. With a touch of the screen, visitors are immersed in richly interpreted multimedia stories comprised of audio, video and images. The vGuide device is intelligent and accurate enough to know exactly where a visitor is and what content should be delivered. Indoors looking at an artifact, outdoors taking in a panoramic view, vGuide uses our proprietary AccuLoc IO™ technology to provide relevant information automatically, creating a user-friendly tech experience. This premium handheld experience also entertains visitors while they are queuing, allowing them to connect to social media, play games and explore those far off, unreachable places and stories, virtually.

Supporting the incredible visitor experience are operational advantages such as incremental revenues, the ability to keep tour content current using our ZED1 Cloud Platform™ for updating, as well as the opportunity to provide content in multiple languages and extract Geo-Analytic data to be used in managing a venue.

"The BpbZ vGuide represents the next generation of interpretation for today's increasingly tech-savvy and demanding visitors, as well as creating kid-friendly heritage experiences by providing instant layers of information presented in creative and engaging ways using a technology platform that can truly support the experience. Our team is very excited for the opportunity to take our interpretive and content development work to the next logical level." said Gary Myers, BaAM's Vice President Creative.

Zolkc CEO Paul Savage believes that "This partnership will allow us to bring the success of our work creating experiences for clients such as the National Trust of Scotland and The John F. Kennedy Trust of Ireland to the North American market. This partnership with BaAM is key to our development strategy of using a stable, proven technology to create amazing experiences."

Digitally Connecting Visitors with the Nire Valley

Waterford County Council and ZolkC are developing a smartphone app to support visitors to the beautiful Nire Valley.

The app will be made available on both the Android & iPhone platform and will be used to promote the region's festivals, events and local businesses, with the goal of encouraging visitors to stay longer in the area.

The app is also being developed to support the four walking trails that criss-cross the valley. Using our AccuLoc IO software, the app will automatically provide walkers with engaging stories and golden nuggets of information at a number of designated key points of interest. It is thought that these stories will focus on history, folklore, and Nire Valley’s unique flora and fauna. Our incredible ViewCam functionality will also allow users to scan the surrounding landscape for further points of interest, as well as identifying the surrounding mountain ranges.

The app will also assist walkers by providing links to local weather forecasts, as well as the Council’s own website for tourism. The ultimate goal is to engage with the visitors pre, during and post visit encouraging repeat visits as well as promoting the local attractions.

The Nire Valley App will be available to download from the Android Market and the Apple App Store from May 2012

We've Just Bagged our First Munro!

Working in partnership with the National Trust for Scotland, ZolkC are developing a series of smartphone apps for some of the Trust's premier countryside locations.

The first of these is for Ben Lomond - a Munro that overlooks the stunning Loch Lomond. The app will provide a map of the trail, and automatically trigger stories of history, folklore, and flora & fauna interpretation, as well as providing direct links for updates on the local weather.

Also, using our ViewCam functionality, the walker will be able to identify specific sites of interest in the surrounding landscape as they make their way up the Ben, including the 30+ peaks and sites of interest that can be viewed from its summit.

The app will engage with visitors pre-visit, during and post visit through links to social media. It will also promote the National Trust for Scotland in its conservation and land-management work and be a key part of their countryside marketing initiative.

The Ben Lomond Trail Companion will be available to download from the Android Market and Apple App Store from May 2012

    Vikings & vGuides

ZolkC have been asked by Waterford City Council to create an all-in-one handheld guide solution for the city's three brand new museums and historic walking tour.

To be released in Summer 2012, the 'Reggie' vGuide will be available to visitors to the city's Viking Triangle, and will deliver engaging stories for all three museums - The Medieval Museum, The Bishop's Palace & Reginald's Tower - on the one device. Using our powerful AccuLoc IO software to automatically trigger stories as visitor's explore inside a museum, as well as outside in the city's historic quarter, 'Reggie' is our, and possibly the world's, first 'indoor/outdoor' solution of its kind.

We're very excited about this project, not just because it's based in our home city, but because it allows us to show the world the power of our vGuide solution to almost it's full extent. We'll keep you up to date with its progress.
